We are excited to launch a data science project analyzing Seattle traffic collision data to help prioritize road improvements and prevent future collisions. This is an opportunity to work through a project with real world data from beginning to end in a small team with experienced data scientists.
To prepare for this project we are hosting two virtual workshops: Exploratory Data Analysis at 6 p.m. on June 24th and Time Series Analysis at 6 p.m. on July 1st. Data science knowledge is not required, but prior experience with Jupyter notebooks and Python is important.
We hope you are interested in joining our project, but if not, you are still welcome to participate in either workshop. Registration on MeetUp is required for each workshop, so we can send you the link to the video conference.

About the Presenters
Niwako got her Ph.D. at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. She was also a professor of psychology at the University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse before moving to Seattle. She taught research methods and statistics to undergraduate students for many semesters while in grad school. Her research has focused on how social relationships and mental health are linked to each other in everyday life. Because of the nature of her research, she has done a lot of longitudinal and multivariate analyses.
Erin studied economics at Whitman College and earned her M.S. in Data Science from the University of Washington in 2018. She has worked in the field of computational law and analyzed demographic data like in this study of https://public.tableau.com/profile/erin.orbits#!/vizhome/SeattleGentrificationAtlas/Atlas. She is a longtime Seattle resident, and currently spends much of her time chasing a crazy kitten named Oliver.
