March Tech Talk with (Leah)Aria Fredman, PhD

  • Galvanize 111 S. Jackson St. Seattle, WA USA (map)

***Due to the coronavirus we are exploring options as to postponing this event or holding virtually. For up to the minute information, please RSVP at the Meetup page for the event here****

Focusing on the space between EDA and modeling, Aria will concentrate on validating decisions to add and/or delete data. Specifically, during the talk she is going to discuss causal inferencing in the absence of randomization and why/how that may lead to needing noisy data, and a matching methodology, as well as what to look out for.

(Leah) Aria Fredman is a data scientist with degrees in art and social psychology. Her need for creativity drove her to study art, while the need for critical thinking and understanding human behavior prompted her to study psychology at the PhD level. She uses data science as a way to satiate all those needs with the use of a quantitative toolbox.

Tentative agenda:
6:00 - 6:15 Networking
6:15 - 6:30 Intro
6:30 - 6:45 Lightning Talk (Datathon Team)
6:45 - 7:45 Main Talk with Aria Fredman
7:30 - 8:00 Q&A

Data Circles (ex 'Seattle Women in Data Science') was founded in February 2018 by Mahnaz Akbari with the intention to create a safe and welcoming space for women in data science to connect and excel together. Although our events are open to everybody, we host only female/non-binary speakers to highlight the role of this group in this field.

Our Mission: Data Circles(https://datacircles.org) is a supportive community that focuses on inspiring and empowering women in data science through professional development, knowledge sharing, and mentorship.
