In case you missed it, here is the video from the Tableau workshop!
This is our first ad hoc, mini workshop for the members of the project teams. This informal workshop will cover plotting traffic collision data in Tableau Public. Other Data Circles folks are welcome too.
Main Workshop Concepts:
- Linking a data source – changing datatypes, hiding columns
- Plotting collision data on a map
- Creating calculated variables
- Applying filters
- Creating a set and then filtering based on the set
- Changing map options & map layers
- Formatting the tooltip
- Combining the map and a plot in a dashboard
Before the Workshop
- Download Tableau Public: https://public.tableau.com (or make sure you have the latest version)
- Download the collision data & the Seattle Street shapefile from the projects_circle repository: https://github.com/DataCircles/projects_circle/tree/master/traffic_collisions_project/workshop_materials/data
